Jeff Koons: One Ball Total Equilibrium

For over five years, CMOM has transformed the way children experience art. With the launch of the Art and Innovation Lab, creativity took center stage. Children could dive into a variety of hands-on projects, such as drawing and sculpting, while guest artists inspired them one-on-one to discover a true passion for art.

Now, we are raising the bar once more by showcasing Jeff Koons’ One Ball Total Equilibrium. Children will not only marvel at this iconic artwork but also participate in a series of creative projects inspired by it. They will explore still life drawing, construction, and STEAM activities that blend math, art, and science, just like the masterpiece itself. Hands-on activities, touch screen information and guest speakers will inspire children to look past the ordinary.

Saturday, August 8: Dive into the art of capturing sculpture likenesses, shape your own three-dimensional ball masterpiece, and unlock the secrets behind the Koons piece by exploring the fascinating world of force.

• Guided Still Life Drawing session: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
• Paper Ball Sculpture: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
• Science Saturday: Study of Force sessions: 1 – 1:30 p.m., 1:45 – 2:15 p.m., 2:30 – 3 p.m.

Saturday, August 15: Explore the craft of bringing sculptures to life on paper and build your own three-dimensional ball creation.

• Guided Still Life Drawing session: 1 – 3 p.m.
• Paper Ball Sculpture: 1 – 3 p.m.

Saturday, August 22: Step into the spotlight as you create art of you in action, transform inspiration from a towering 45-foot puppy sculpture into delightful art, and get moving with a hands-on session led by world-renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. John C. Weinlein, a real-life fixer of Humpty Dumptys.

• Floral Puppy session: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Saturday, August 29: Channel your inner artist by sketching from a posed mannequin, just as Koons did when he brought the Seated Ballerina to life.

• Ballerina Drawing: 1 – 3 p.m.

Sunday, September 6: Join us as we stitch graceful ballerinas using time-honored techniques, with a special session where toddlers can craft their very own ballerinas.

• Sewn Ballerina sessions: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 3 p.m.
• Wooden Ballerina: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
