ATC Task: Adjust
What steps would you take if two planes were flying too close together?
If the plane is in the air, controllers can instruct pilots to adjust their altitude. For example, they might ask them to climb 1,000 feet to create enough space between planes.
If on the runway, they may ask them to “line up and wait” for takeoff.
If on the ground, a controller may ask them to “hold short” before they enter the runway. For example: “FedEx 123. Hold short runway 9.”
