Taxiways

Taxiways are paved lanes that lead planes to runways. They are always named by letters of the alphabet except for the letters “I,” “O,” and “X,” which are never used. Using the phonetic alphabet, a controller might tell a pilot to use taxiway Alpha (A) to runway 18R.
